‘Cuse Goes Green for Earth Day!

garbage bagWith the world around us turning greener every day, what a wonderful time to celebrate Earth Day 2013.  The official celebration of Earth Day is April 22, 2013, but here in Syracuse where we tend to be a little more desperate for all things green, getting a head start on clearing the detritus of winter kicks off this weekend.  Check out Clean up ‘Cuse for opportunities to put a fresh face on our city streets and parks on April 13th.  Grab some energetic friends and neighbors and go to town – literally, or to your own neighborhood and lend a hand.

Every day should be considered Earth Day and groups like SU’s Green Universecity are working on just that – creating a daily habit of living greener lives in big ways and small. From encouraging the use of Energy Star appliances, to taking the bus instead of a car, from using green cleaning products, to basic recycling practices.  Every little bit does count when multiplied by the millions of people on this planet.

A great way to find more green opportunities and to get involved is Syracuse’s Greentowns Network .  If you are passionate about our earth and the environment, please share your top green practices.  We’d also love to see some of your photos of Earth Day activities around Central New York.  In Syracuse, we’re all accustomed to the familiar Go Orange – well how about this weekend we GO GREEN!
