Festive Finger Lakes!

I have to confess that I am a little behind preparing for the upcoming holidays, but that’s my MO.  For those of you who are more organized and ahead of schedule, you may be looking for something festive and fun to do.  Grab a mate or some friends and experience the fantastic Finger Lakes.  Though most of us think hot summer days on the lakes, or fall harvests at the vineyards – the Finger Lakes has a bounty of winter events as well.

Food and wine are in abundance during the holidays but how about getting a first hand look at how the professionals take local ingredients and pair them with perfect wines.  Join regional chef Samantha Buyskes as she prepares a holiday menu on a farm to table wine and cooking adventure, Dec. 8th in Ovid, NY.

Planning ahead for New Year’s Eve or as a unique gift, join Glenora Wine Cellars  on Dec. 8th in Dundee,  for a chance to create your own champagne with your own special touch.

The Sonnenberg Holiday Home Tour is sure to inspire and wow you with beautiful historic homes with seasonal decorations.  Held Saturday, Dec. 8th from 11-4, the drive is definitely worth it.

And of course nothing says Christmas or Bah Humbug like the 19th Annual Dickens Christmas  in Skaneateles.  With events too numerous to mention, but none to be missed, be sure to visit now through Dec. 24th, 12-4 PM.

For those of you who need a good laugh and a lot of good music to get you through the holiday rush, check out the New Auburn Public Theater’s December calendar, starting with Christine Lavin, Wednesday, Dec. 12th.  Christine and her many guest musicians will offer the “anti- holiday, holiday concert.”  Old chestnuts and new interpretations of holiday classics will put the merry right back in your step and the twinkle in your eye.

Well now I’m really behind – there’s so much to do- taste- listen and enjoy. Hope you find a moment in the hustle and bustle to find your way with friends to the Finger Lakes!
