Fall Festival at Abbott’s Farm

Last weekend, my husband and I took our two little boys to the Fall Festival at Abbott’s Farm.  What a fun family outing a nice fall afternoon.   After purchasing two wristbands (the kids were free), we hopped aboard a tractor-towed hayride.  We rode atop bails of hay to a path through a cornfield.  The path led us to a pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkins.  Beside the patch was the entrance to a corn maze.  We assumed it would be simple enough to navigate, but wow, were we wrong!   40 minutes later we emerged to find the hayride waiting.  It took us through the apple orchard and on to the other kids activities (super-slide, apple cannon/slingshot, and face-painting).  Our kids were a little too young for those, so we walked on to see the farm animals.  My son especially enjoyed feeding the goats and sheep.  On our way out we bought a pumpkin and stopped into the store to pick up some homemade fudge and cookies.  They were delicious!

Also available at concession stands are hamburgers, maple-BBQ beef, and french fries.  Apple cider, apple fritters, cider donuts, caramel and candy apples are made with apples right from the farm.  In addition to the fudge and cookies, the bakery offers pies and ice cream.

For $7 (kids under 3 are free), you can buy a wristband which gives you access to the hayrides, corn maze, bounce house, super-slide, face-painting, and apple slingshot.  If you just want to go to walk around, see the animals, get a bite to eat, and/or pick apples, no wristband is required.  Parking is free.

The Fall Festival runs through Halloween on Saturdays (10-6) and Sundays(11-6).  It’s a lot of fun for the kids, and I really enjoyed it myself!
