A Pint Sized View of the Zoo

The Rosamond Gifford Zoo…what a fun way to spend a couple of hours–with kids of any age!  For only $8, Sam and I enjoyed our Tuesday afternoon discovering a variety of fascinating animals.  Among his favorites were the elephants, the tamarins, and the monkeys (a baby monkey had recently been born).  How rewarding to watch my son observe these animals with new eyes!  Sharing the experience with him made it just as exciting for me.

In addition to the animal exhibits, the zoo also hosts events for children.  Coming up for the holidays are Wild Friday (11/25/11) and Breakfast with Santa (every Saturday and Sunday in December before Christmas).  Please let us know if you attend.  We’d love to hear from you and see your photos!  Tell us about your experience at The Rosamond Gifford Zoo.  We’d love to feature your favorite exhibit!

  1. The Rosamond Gifford Zoo is a favorite to my grandchildren. They visit several times a year and spend the whole day, not leaving until closing time. My daughter-in-law home schools her children and the zoo is a field trip they look forward to. I have been invited to join them and enjoy their excitement and knowledge of their “zoo friends”.

  2. I don’t have any children but after reading your piece about the Zoo; I will put this on my agenda to visit. I am from Syracuse but only remember visiting the Burnet Park Zoo as a child, which was many, many years ago. I am assuming this is actually the same Zoo.
